Returning from Australia my partner and I decided to recreate our first date night and unfortunately were left disappointed. On a Saturday it’s incredibly difficult to get the attention of a server. a classic cocktail was served in a pint glass and was really below par. Nice venue, average food, poor service. Might have better luck mid week. If looking for a nice drink with attentive service and ambience, the speak easy from the road is a vibe Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

I've been here before and had better experiences, but this time was really not good. The prices are very high for mediocre food options. I ordered a gluten free flat bread, of my photo is visible you will see what it looked like, the crust was just raw dough but even if it had been cooked certainly not worth $13. It was also served on a tray that was way too large for the table. I think that's part of the school theme but also really inconvenient. Our server even said it looked "disgusting", I sent it back and they removed the price from our bill but didn't offer anything else for the inconvenience of not getting to eat lunch. So I recently had my first time here, and it was incredible. Well I definitely don't think it is the cheapest place to have a cocktail, the brown liquor selection is fantastic, I mean absolutely fantastic, and the service was also fantastic. The whole aesthetic inside is really cool as well. My group ended up having a larger party than we had originally planned on this evening. Originally we planned on 6 folks, however our party size grew at the last minute. While we hadn’t planned on this, we were in a separate room that accommodated for 12 people separate from the rest of the restaurant. We ended up with 13. For that we apologize. Our waiter this evening however had the worst attitude and treated us very poorly scolding us publicly and out loud because we ended up having a larger group than expected. We were spoken to like we were five. The proper thing would have been to speak to our group organizer privately if this was such a big deal. I’ve been a waiter and I know what it’s like to have a bad day, but that is no way to treat returning/paying customers. Not a problem at all. The few of us who had ordered quickly closed our tabs and the rest never sat down. That’s 13 drink tabs and meals total gone. Each tab would have been $50 or more easily plus tip. We went elsewhere and will continue to go elsewhere. We have brought business to the establishment weekly and have never been disruptive by any means. Wont be returning. This is a great place for excellent atmosphere, and great drinks. The food is good, but not great. Very good service though. We met some family, and everyone agreed my Peanut Butter Manhattan was the best drink of the night. Per the server the drink was Skrewball peanut butter whisky, whisky, vermouth, and bitters. I’d recommend giving it a try if you like peanut butter. The poutine was actually better than what I had recently in Montreal, so that’s something. The bacon wrapped date appetizers were quite good. The street tacos were good, and the Turkey Bacon & Avocado was OK. Would definitely come again and order the Peanut Butter Manhattan and the bacon wrapped dates. Highly recommend!
