Yeah, you might spend a bit more than at some national chain place, but Salerno's is the RealDeal. Fantastic Italian, - straight forward, fairly simple dishes done very well, and my (Italian Mother) would have loved this restaurant... many items seem like what she would have made. Huge portions so you can take home lunch tomorrow. Nice wine list we thought. My first time here, and we will definitely come back! Highly recommended for real, family ish Italian food. Amazing Food it was Phenominal. Service was Excellent. Atmosphere was Nice and Love Music gave it a romantic feel. Huge Portions. Beautiful View Of the River. Well be back for sure was here celebrating our 17th Wedding Anniversary, and to see Everclear. Will be our Stop Next time where in town. Atmosphere was great and staff was nice. We ordered pizza, pasta and pork chop. Pizza was ok. Pork chop came out and was really dry and tough. The pasta dish came out wrong. Then the server informed me that substitutions weren’t allowed on weekends. This was our first time here and wouldn’t the server normally tell you that when you are requesting substitutions. I’m grateful they fixed it, they gave a good portion of seafood but it was drowning in sauce. It was a terrible first experience not sure it would be worth another try. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Our waitress did a great job. I wanted to come here for the stuffed artichokes, which turned out to be just like my grandmother used to make them. Bread was amazing, warm, and fresh. Portions are large with great choices. Beautiful view of the river great atmosphere and our server was on point. Pizza was excellent but the meatballs and polenta a bit too salty and over cooked. Will go back for pizza and try other dishes next time Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A classic place with excellent food & service. Been going there 30 years, always good. They focus on customer service, the owner thanks you for coming. It feels like home, plus a river view. Stopped by on a Saturday evening and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to be seated immediately. There was a good amount of customers there, but enough to make it feel crowded. The overall food quality was worth 5 stars! All the portions including the kids were very generous in size. The bread with the olive oil and parmesan was a big hit. The minestrone soup was also very tasty and would definitely recommend. Enjoyed some of the seafood pasta which was cooked just right, tasted fresh and not rubbery at all! The only thing we struggled with was the long wait for food. The waitress was very kind and helpful, however this was the longest wait we have ever had for food. It made it a little difficult with kids. If we return in the future it will definitely be on a date night (without kids) where we have plenty of time to sit and wait for the food, while enjoying the view of the fox river. Service was very attentive to our needs. Drink refills were provided without having to ask. The bread, soups, salads and pasta entrees were all house made and prepared as ordered. The soups were very hearty and flavorful. The pasta entrees were large portion sizes and you can taste the quality of the food is spectacular. We enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner at Salerno's. There is plenty of parking (there is a lot), we were seated right away (but we made reservations), and our server was quick, efficient and friendly. The food is fantastic! They had a special Valentine's Day menu which included a complimentary heart pizza for couples and I ordered the Love Potion#9 off the drink menu which was really good. We ordered Cheese sticks, and they were HUGE and their marinara sauce is one of the best that I've tasted. They give you a warm loaf of bread but unfortunately cold butter. Just put the butter under the bread and it warms up and makes it easier to spread. The spaghetti with meat sauce was delicious and my man really enjoyed his Fettuccine Alfredo. The prices while not inexpensive, are pretty reasonable and you take home a lot of leftovers so it's definitely worth it to eat here. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The staff were professional and friendly. The view and atmosphere are unique and absolutely beautiful. We had antipasto for our Appetizers and the everything pizza. Every single bite was delicious. We will definitely be back when we are in the area. I want to add I saw a couple bad reviews before I went stating they took a long time...it's a beautiful sit down restaurant, not fast food. We spent about 2 hours total there and the food was fresh and piping hot.
