3 of us had a private tasting on a great Sunday afternoon. Having been coming to the hill country for years and gone to 20 plus wineries from Johnson City to Fredericksburg we ventured to Mason for the first time. I cant say enough about the wine, it was an epic tasting with more robust, intriguing and great tasting wine than i ever expected. The wine here is definitely for the serious wine drinker looking to find some of the best wine Texas has to offer. To make the experience even better, Dan and his wife are great people that answered all of our wine questions (good or bad haha) and made us feel right at home. I really cant say enough about how much we enjoyed our time here. We will be repeat visitors for many years to come!

I chatted with winery owner Dan McLaughlin and his lovely wife Jeanie till the cows came home. They bought the winery in 2012 and promised to keep the original name. I had a wonderful visit! It was refreshing to see and hear a couple with a passion for producing small batch, extremely high quality wines.

We did a private tasting and it was absolutely incredible!! The wines are awesome, I mean who ages wines for 6 years in a barrel, but Dan was even better. He is so willing to share stories and teach about the things he’s learned!! This is a must stop if you love Texas wines!!!

One of my favorite places! There are many wineries west of Austin these days, but Robert Clay Vineyards really stands out. The wines are amazing and constantly evolving. The owners are such sweet people and make you feel like family. You can taste the love they pour into these wines! Just go!
Taste some of the best Texas wines available. Robert Clay originally grew the grapes used by such notable winemakers as William Chris, but he is now wearing the dual hats of viticulturist AND wine maker, and he is really showing the passion that is needed to make great wine. You almost can't spit in Texas without hitting a winery these days, but finding wines that are actually worth drinking is hard. (And even notable and large wineries lose their winemakers and the quality goes down dramatically.) I've got a small list of great Texas winemakers, and from what I just tasted, Robert Clay belongs on that list. One last thing: the tasting room is a fun experience. Robert's son and wife were there, and they all have a passion and enjoy talking about their wines. If you like to geek out and learn a thing or two, this is a great place to go.
Great wine and very inviting atmosphere. Love talking to the owners, they are friendly and knowledgeable about Texas wines!
What a gem! The owners are so sweet, we felt like part of their family! Fabulous wine ~ and hearing the story of the wine & winery just adds to the enjoyment! Thanks for the great visit!

Great little place in the hill country. Family owned and operated. Great wine and they didn’t mind my kids tagging along with us. We will be back next time we are in the area.
