What a wonderful experience at PoundCake Bakery! My friend and I were out and about, exploring downtown Lisle when we came across this cute little shop. Who could have predicted that we would meet the kindest people, have some delicious cake, and coffee! The owner, Bev, is incredibly passionate about her business and it's admirable. Despite very nice service, the old fashioned and cinnamon cream cheese pound cakes were inedible. The old fashioned was dry and tasteless with a denseness that screamed for milk which for the price was an absolute shame. The cinnamon cream pound cake had so much cinnamon flavor that it burned our tastebuds after each bite. The only highlight was the Mexican chocolate poundcake which had a nice flavor but did not resemble a typical poundcake in neither texture nor taste. It was a very disappointing experience since my dad had specifically requested poundcake for his birthday celebration so visited your location splurged on 3 cakes. I guess this will be a lesson learned on our end. When we arrived home we saw that these poundcake do not even use butter in their ingredient list - they rely on margarine. Very disappointing indeed.
