The food is the best in town. The staff is the friendliest you can find. I love the breakfast here. I can not say enough good things about this place. Don’t pass up the opportunity to eat here. Love the people! Thank you for great service

This spot was suggested to us by a local business and I regret to say that I was so badly disappointed. The staff did not seem genuinely friendly and the food was average, if not, less.
I was unhappy with the lack of options on the menu and the fact that I was charged $6 for just 3 French toast alone. The waitress had to leave our table 3 separate times in the midst of taking our order because the cook/owner kept distracting her.
I ordered a hot tea which the waitress forgot to bring 3 times. I finally received the tea without a cup or anything to put in it. I also didn't get any syrup for the French toast I ordered but made sure everyone had ketchup for their hashbrowns. After our food was delivered our waitress never came to our table to see if we needed any other assistance and I had to wait an extra 10 minutes to even try to locate an employee, that wasn't being over worked, to get me some cream and syrup.
We finished our food and hadn't noticed the waitress had laid our order on the table in the most illegible writing so now I am really hoping there weren't any extra charges from the previous negative reviews I'd seen about hidden fees. I go to the counter to pay only to find they're CASH ONLY. Was there a sign upon entry? No. Was it explained to us when we ordered? No. I assumed there had to be some notification somewhere. So I ask the hostess and she just pointed to the small print on the bottom corner on the front of the menu. Luckily they have an atm at the entrance that charges you $3 to pull money out to pay your bill 🙃
To sum this all up, I will not be coming back and I will not suggest anyone come here due to the horrible service we received and complete facade of customer service this place provides.
Honorable mentions: the women's bathroom is the equivalent of a shoebox. When hot water spilled on the table, it turned brown from the lack of proper cleaning to the tables. It's definitely got the 50s feel by the lack of diversity by the employees and customers.

So-I stumbled across the Potato Shak while driving somewhat “lost” without my GPS, which is fine because it’s still the best way to “feel” your way around (as long as you have decent sense of direction and a compass) 😂 I could tell from the look of it that it had a vintage vibe to it and after collecting the family later in the day-we returned to find an awesome old-school diner chock-full of folks from our finest generation! The staff of the Shak were friendly and the food was great! The prices were even better as it looked like the menus haven’t changed in decades!!! We can only ask that more old-town places like this stay active for years to come! We WILL Be back!

Used to enjoy this place. Went in today to have breakfast with my wife. Not only did it take forever to get our food but there were ingredients in the meals not disclosed on the menu. Went to pay bill as was taken back by the additional charges such as 1.20 for barely any cheese on a skillet. 4 dollars for 2 small sausage patties. Then to add to the fees was also charged for a carryout container. Service was horrible new staff in restaurant first thing she says is refills are not free wow thanks for saying good morning. I would suggest going somewhere else for the price many other places with better quality service and no hidden charges or lack of description of the food

We asked for well done potatoes, well done English muffin/toast, but we got undercooked potatoes and English muffin/toast. The waitress must’ve disliked veterans because she was terrible and feeble minded (forgot to bring me a side of sausage and kept wanting to refill my cup with caffeinated coffee), which was undercooked and didn’t come until we finished our meal. The order was placed far ahead of surrounding tables, but we were the last ones to be served, about a half hour wait. Twenty dollars for a simple breakfast, so overpriced! The waitress got a bit of an attitude when I asked about any military discount or be compensated for her and the cook staff incompetence. My suggestion is: If you’re a veteran, go find a veteran friendly restaurant.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at this charming little diner. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles 😁 We loved that the cook personally greeting each customer as they walked in the door. The staff was not only friendly but also efficient, ensuring prompt service.
When it came to the food, we were not disappointed. One of the first things that caught our attention was the reasonable prices. It's refreshing to find a diner that offers quality food at affordable prices. We ordered the biscuits and gravy which were absolutely delicious. Another standout dish was the Meat Lovers Omelet, which was filled to the brim with a variety of meats. It was a hearty and fulfilling breakfast.
While the main dishes impressed us, I must admit that the potatoes didn't quite live up to my expectations because of the diner's name, "Potato Shak." They were tasty, but they didn't offer anything particularly unique or different. Nonetheless, they complemented the meal well.
One thing to keep in mind when visiting the Potato Shak is that they only accept cash as a form of payment.
If you're looking for a place to enjoy a homestyle meal, the Potato Shak is definitely worth a visit. The friendly staff, reasonable prices, and delicious food make it a standout and very popular diner in the area.

We love this place! Their food is reasonably priced and the staff is VERY friendly. Especially the cook, he greets everyone and asks everyone how their meal was. It's a small diner that only takes cash so be ready for that. The biscuits and gravy are to die for! The actual best.

This place was amazing. As soon as we stepped in the door we were greeted by the chef and then seated. This is a very family friendly place. Extremely clean, well mannered and highly efficient service. A great place with very well done meals. The taste is reminiscent of a well cooked family meal in the kitchen. We will be eating here until we can't.
