My husband and I had dinner here on our first night in town. The restaurant was quiet and relaxed. The chowder came in a bowl and my goodness, talk about large portions. It was like clam chowder served in a pot. It was really good too!! My husband said his burger was good too. I was too tired from the drive to try his food but it looked really good. Spending the night in Gold Beach and looked online for a Not expensive place to eat. Prices were 15-20$ range, but for a few things. Located in the middle of a min mall type building on the beach. I had to look a min, but they have neon signs pointing the way on 3 sides of building. Waitress was pleasant, there was a birthday party going on for someone local. I got to sing and clap. Lol I had a Ma’s Burger. It was good. Not great or exceptional, but good and priced accordingly. 14$. I’ll go back. I’ll try something else tho. :) Super fast if in a hurry. Had a day to enjoy the coast and ended up here for dinner. I had the butterfly shrimp and fries, it was good food but the view for me was much better. Fun is the word that comes to mind when I think of the Port Hole Cafe! We were staying at Gold Beach on New Year's Eve after driving a long day. We wanted fish and chips since we were at the ocean! This cafe was open and we were so happy we found it. The place seemed alive with happy people and the front hostess was so friendly and kind! It sits close to the water at the marina. We ordered to go because we had our dog and the food was great, service was fast, and we will definitely go back next time we are in the town! The Port Hole is a nice little cafe with a wonderful view of the water. Parking here is plenty and easy to find. When we arrived for dinner around 6pm in mid October on a Friday evening there was no wait; however, the restaurant had a comfortable amount of activity going on. The staff here are friendly and helpful. You can absolutely tell that this is a favorite of the locals in the area as they are all chatting and engaging with one another. If you are looking for a quick and easy sit down meal in Gold Beach this is a good stop and we’ll definitely be back when we’re in the area. Ordered cod when I got it it was cold, send it back waitress return with part of the order later the rest of your order showed up substandard did not taste good did not eat. It told waitress waitress then gave me the bill charged me for meal even though I didn’t eat it as can be seen in picture Talk to management said even though I did not eat the meal they wanted to be payed for serving substandard food I payed under protest will continue to fight to get money refunded for bad meal. Apparently they’ve recently change their hours opening out at 11 o’clock in time for lunch and then on to dinner. I like the rustic atmosphere with the wood interior and the view of the water was pretty awesome. I would say, the clam chowder was thick and creamy with lots of clams and potatoes. The roast beef in the French dip was a little dry, but soak it in au juice It was fine. The young man, waiter was efficient and and pleasant and frequently checked on me to see if I needed anything. Wow! We just found our favorite place to eat when we visit the coast! The food was amazing, the bloody Mary's were delicious, service was quick and employees were all very nice! Nothing negative about it. The clam chowder was the best we've ever had!! Definitely our favorite.
