The food was good and cheap compared to other restaurants. Due to the fact my girlfriend and I don't speak Latvian, we translated parts of the menue with help of the waitress and Google. Everything worked well and the food eas enough, tasty and the service also good.
Cool tavern on the way between Valmiera/Cēsis and Riga. Good balance of price, quality and portion size. Friendly and welcoming staff, even in late Sunday evening. Good to know about this option for future roadtrips.
The place is easy to speed by as there are no noticeable road signs, but it's a jewel in disguise. Under average appearance and design You'll be surprised by the staff, great food and excellent pricing.
Entrance isn't easily accesible for wheelchairs or baby strollers, but inside has plenty of room for both. The interior design isn't special, but on hot summer days outside tables are the better choice.
Menu has enough choices for every taste, although on our occasion they were out of pancakes (obvious choice for kids), but the food is so good that it's barely seasoned, thus even the french fries from my main dish were edible by the toddler.
P.S. There's a museum right next to it which is great to walk off that delicious food You just ate. Or on the other hand if You don't have the appetite yet, You can go for a walk until You want to eat. :)
