The brisket was amazing!!!! We loved it. The beers were okay but the food was awesome. The mac n cheese, coleslaw, fries and pickles sides were good. Food was good, service was not. Waitress never came back to my table again, not even to bring my bill. She was few feet away talking the all time. I have to ask another waitress for mustard for my sausage and for the bill .I got the tex meal : 2 meats, and I place a to go order call the Kitchen sink . In Fort Royal for a few days and tried this BBQ place. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We started with a Texas Twinkie (roasted poblano, stuffed with pimento cheese, deep fried and topped with a honey pepper sauce). This was excellent! Birria tacos are extremely good. Seasoned right. Comes with three, wish there was an option for two. Hubs devoured the Barnyard (chicken, pork, beef) and added a side of mac-cheese. Served with mustard, green chili, red, traditional sauces. The building is a converted gas station with outdoor seating options and corn hole. Obviously, we could not finish all this food, but we enjoyed every bite! Great job PaveMint Smokin' Taphouse, we were not expecting to get excellent BBQ in Fort Royal, VA. Ate lunch here while visiting Front Royal. I was satisfied overall with the smoked chicken dish. I also had the polenta fries. I liked the texture of them but it was wayyy over seasoned with salt. Traveling for business I asked the hotel clerk for a recommendation, quality bbq but not a big chain restaurant. Also needed to have great drinks on tap…… this place absolutely blew my expectations out of the water!!! Probably the best BBQ I’ve had, excellent beer on tap and the environment is welcoming. Anyone from out of town I’d like to say don’t judge a book by its cover, I’d come back to Front Royal just to eat at this place!! I've been coming here since their opening. The beer selection is always good and the food is Way Beyond most other Taphouse food quality. The nice thing is that they seem to try to reinvent themselves on a periodic basis. For instance right now everything seems to be focused on smoked food from the smoker out front. Update: Food is still consistently good as is the beer selection. I particularly like the vibe on the back patio while the weather is nice - jam band, good food, good beer, and good weather.
