This place needs some help. I got a gyro sandwich and a side Greek salad. The sandwich was built so strangely. Why is the sauce put into the pita first? You get no sauce until you’re at your last bites. It was very dry because of that. And for $6 the salad was disappointing. Lettuce, cucumbers and olives. And such a small portion. Dressing was good though. The atmosphere is “cheap back room dank”. Tables weren’t clean. I purchased a falafel sandwich on the 8th floor of the UIHC cafe. There was no humus and instead, it was filled with plain chick peas and the wrap disintegrated causing a confetti effect of chickpeas falling to the ground. There was no sauce as described. Someone requires training in the kitchen because I know that this wrap is usually quite tasty. Food: 1
Might be the best food in Iowa city. They have amazing French fries and the chicken was great all for a very reasonable price. Sometimes it’s nice to have something that’s not just a burger. I highly suggest stopping here. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Half Falafel Sandwich
The BEST hummus you'll ever eat.... ....the falafel and gyros are hands-down phenomenal! If you're in Iowa City....you have to stop at Oasis (and don't forget to grab a extra tub of hummus for your home)! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Great portion sizes, delicious falafels and hummus, and all three types of meat I had (chicken, gyro, and beef kafta) were amazing! Also I loved the sides (couscous, madjadra rice, best olives and pickles), and the restaurant offers a nice, friendly atmosphere. Will be back! On a Midwest scale I would say slightly below average but on a local scale within Iowa City itself probably considered pretty good by most. The food portions we're slightly smaller then I would have hoped. Overall I would say the price does reflect the quality of the food. Menu items pictured in the post that we tried include the gyro, and the sample platter which consisted of hummus, falafel, pita, and roasted chicken with veggies. See attached pictures and video. The staff was super friendly and super helpful. Our weight was much longer than I would have hoped. Almost 30 minutes. Come to find out our order was given to a different table so the server brought out a punch card for a free meal next time we stop in. It's a very small establishment but overall good environment. The restrooms were as clean as you would expect and parking is a little bit difficult to come by but there's a lot of side roads to park on. My favorite restaurant in Iowa City. Not the cheapest food around, but it’s truly quality. The falafel and the hummus are some of the best I’ve had. I usually get the half gyro (which is plenty) along with chips and hummus. But the chicken shawarma is also very good. It’s pretty small inside, but there’s lots of Outdoor seating around if it’s nice out. You won’t be disappointed! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20
This is a small restaurant in downtown Iowa city. Parking might be a bit hard to find. Coming to the food: 1. The falafel was excellent- crunchy, soft and perfect taste. The hummus complimented it very well. The Baba Ganoush (5/5) was smoky and creamy. I would definitely order it. The fires were amazing too. I’m not a big fan of Baklava but it was very very good here. The size and taste of Turkish coffee was a tad bit of a disappointment. But overall a great place. The staff were very friendly and polite. The seating indoor was limited but there was lot of seating outdoor. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20

After moving to Des Moines I noticed their hummus for sale in tubs at a local grocery store. It was some of the best hummus I ever had. I looked up online and saw they had a restaurant in Iowa city and I knew I had to visit. I ordered their half falafel sandwich and it was some of the best falafel I've had and I've had them all over America. the sandwich was incredible. I'm sorry I can't add a picture but the sandwich didn't really last very long. Funky college town atmosphere. Exceptional staff. highly recommended! Great place for Mediterranean cuisines in Iowa City. We had a grill platter which came with two grill items (chosen from four different options) and a falafel sandwich. We took beef kafta for both of our grill items and french fries along with baba ganoush as sides. They gave us a free falafel with that. The taste of beef kafta was really good specially with the green chilli paste. Falafels were very crispy outside and soft inside with great flavor. I think one of the best Falafels I have ever had. The baba ganoush was little tangy and bitter in taste with a very smoky flavour. In combination the flavour was very delicious and super addictive. We liked all the food very much.
