Went to North East Family Restaurant, in North East, Maryland of course, yesterday to have lunch with a bunch of elderly nurses that I used to work with many years ago when we were all much, much younger. I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars for ambiance, service, and food. You should know that I apply different standards to a review of a family restaurant than I do to a review of an upscale, expensive restaurant. This family restaurant is excellent. The restaurant is clean, neat, and laid out in such a way that the tables are not jammed together. It's easy to maneuver to and from the table even if you're disabled. The service was excellent. Our group of 8 had two servers and a busser. We had just as much attention from the staff as we needed. They didn't hover, but they also didn't ignore our needs. The staff people were friendly and efficient. The food was served promptly. They serve breakfast all day. Some of us had breakfast, and some of us had lunch. I had a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, fried onions and jalapeno peppers. It was well prepared, juicy, and delicious. The fries that came with it were very good. One of my companions had SOS, creamed chipped beef on a toasted English muffin. She let me have a taste. It was excellent. SOS is my favorite breakfast. The portions were generous. There's plenty of free parking in their parking lot outside. Parking and restaurant are wheelchair accessible. I gotta say it. I've been there three times now. And all three times the food was not all that good. This last time I went there was for breakfast. You would think you couldn't mess up a simple thing like biscuits and gravy. But they did and like a champ. Service was pretty decent. Wait time, my wife and I sat there, passed up twice.
