À propos
Located at the junction of London Road and Hinwick Road, The Nags Head (previously known as The Wollaston Inn) has a long history that remains rooted as a community pub for the people of Wollaston. First referred to in 1787 as Mr Lucy’s Hostelry, the pub was known as The Nags Head until 2003 and during this time it became known as one of the most forward-thinking music venues in the country. Between the late 1960s and early 1970s The Nags Head was a well attended venue which hosted progressive bands of that era. The pub landlord at this time was Bob Knight who was responsible for bringing the likes of Rod Stewart and The Faces, Free, Edwin Starr, U2, Wishbone Ash, Yes, Medicine Head, Mott The Hoople, Status Quo and Elkie Brooks to perform live. Aside of the formidable live music, legendary DJ John Peel held a regular Friday residency at The Nags Head alongside helping run the venue. Summer 2022 sees a local shoemaking family purchase the Nags Head with the desire to restore the pub to its former glory as a meeting place for the community to come together to drink, dine and dance.
