Some of our food was good, other items were tasteless. The street corn was especially bad - we were told it came with four 1/2 ears and we got three 1/2 ears of miniature cobs. The kernels were so small as to be barely "biteable" and the sauce (no cotija in sight) was tasteless. More than that, the service was flat and unengaged. I understand that they close at 9 - instead of coming over to say that they were going to start closing up for the night, with a pleasant request that we start to wrap up, they increased the lights in the restaurant and then literally FLASHED the lights repeatedly. It was crazy and incredibly unnecessary. A polite conversation would have been fine. Finally, I am outraged that they use a 11x14 size heavy card stock menu that is, honestly, thrown into recycling after each guest uses it. We were told to use a small red ink stamp directly on the menu indicating what we want to order and then it's tossed into recycling. There isn't enough demand for recycled paper in the world to justify that wastefulness. That has got to stop. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4
We had a great meal at Mr. R Fusion, The pulled pork dumplings were delicious and not fatty: the lamb kebabs were really good and the salmon was delicious! We just happened upon this restaurant and were very pleased - byob for now but presumably that will change. Servers were very friendly and atmosphere was fun/diner like. The food and drinks were great. We really enjoyed the risotto cake, shrimp blini, nduja shrimp, ginger peach black tea and lemon chamomile tea. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Risotto Cake
I recently dined at this fantastic Asian fusion restaurant, and it was an unforgettable culinary journey. The pulled pork dumplings were an absolute revelation, easily the best I've ever had. But the surprises didn't stop there – the small Japanese pancakes (desert), shrimp kataifi, and seafood curry soup were all equally outstanding. What truly sets this place apart, besides the extraordinary food, is its inviting and relaxed atmosphere. The staff were not only helpful but incredibly nice, adding a personal touch to the dining experience. Everything was impeccably clean, which only added to the overall comfort. In addition, this restaurant takes you on a culinary adventure that's unlike any other in Newport, RI. It's a refreshing departure from the ordinary dining options in the area. I can't wait to return for another culinary adventure. This restaurant has definitely earned a permanent spot on my list of favorites. Mr.R., you are doing a great job!🥳 Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Shrimp Kataifi

My only regret is that I didn’t invite more friends to join us! Fun menu, creative dishes, party-style dining experience. I would enjoy fusion tapas everyday if I could. Do yourself a favor and get down to Mr. R in Newport, you won’t be disappointed! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Decided to do our own taste of Newport experience and we’re so grateful we put Mr. R as one of our stops. The inside has a hip, fun vibe…sort of upscale diner meets chill cafe! We enjoyed small plates with generous servings of calamari, roasted Brussel sprouts with Gorgonzola, fried risotto, and pork dumplings. They were all delicious. It’s BYOB so that was a bonus. Our waiter was so welcoming and helpful. Definitely coming back next time we’re in Newport. What an incredible addition to the Newport restaurant scene I almost don’t want this secret to get out! The food was off the charts and a different spin on various plates, My biggest issue was I wanted to order the entire menu.. from the dumplings to the steak sandwich it was all a hit they even made a Parmesan noodle dish for my child and in the perfect location away from the madness of downtown and with the option of takeout and byob this place is a 10!
