Mauer Brothers’ is a great place to stop for a drink and meet with a friend or talk with locals. The people of Elba were welcoming, and the conversations were real. You’ll learn surprising stories about the people and places there if you take the time to listen. The bar is still owned by the descendants of the original owner from 1890, and there I learned the story of the Fire Tower and that of Black Bill of Elba (and saw his legendary trout mounted). Beer prices were fabulous. Stop here with a friend the next time you’re near Whitewater State Park in the evening!

I really like this place. I try to stop by if I am in the area fly fishing. It is a comfortable bar with reasonable prices in the middle of a great area to camp, fish and site see. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
