Very authentic, vibrant atmosphere, and easily accessible off the side of a main road. Service was friendly, genuine, and staff offered several helpful recommendations.
Food is both delicious and affordable: very reasonably priced. With a generous sashimi platter, plenty of Yakitori, alcohol, unagi, and saba, the bill added up to no more than ¥3,000 to ¥4,000 per person.
Nothing we tried was bad - all highly recommended!

This is my new must go restaurant in Kawaguchiko. The food is just amazingly flavored. Since it is a family restaurant so the service is rather slow, but be patient because the wait is totally worth it. Pricing is not expensive as izakaya in Tokyo, around 2000 yen per person. A five star straight to this place.

We checked into our hotel late, so we couldn't get dinner there. Saw this place on Google maps and is honestly likely way better than whatever the hotel would have had. Food was so good we ended up ordering seconds. Very relaxing atmosphere and was very affordable. Our group of 7 ate for only about 17k yen total. Would recommend the Takoyaki set with teriyaki sauce. Probably the best meat I've ever eaten. The Peach Fizz and Oolong tea drink was also great, especially for those who don't really like the taste of alcohol. Just wish I was gonna be in town long enough to eat here again.
Also, just one last main thing to note is that it's cash only.

Great hidden gems for late night hunger around kawaguchiko lake. Good sashimi comes with quality at low price. Deep fried squid, curry rice are also strongly recommended.
We stayed in Kawaguchiko for one night and we had trouble finding a restaurant as lots of places closed early. I’m very happy that we ended up at this place.
We had a local sake that was lovely. The food was great too, we tried a few different dishes, including fresh sashimi and Yakitori. Everything was delicious and the price was very reasonable. They also have menus in English.
The people were so warm and kind and went above and beyond to help us get back to our hotel. Thank you!
Amazing food, amazing hospitality and really good pricing also. What more can you ask for.
We stumbled upon the restaurant while taking a stroll back to our hotel. Usually the hotels there closes pretty early, we were surprised to see this one open lil late, but glad we thought of checking it. If we were staying in Fujikawaguchiko for one more day, we surely would have gone for lunch / dinner again.
Very much recommend.

As like some other reviewers, we arrived at our hotel too late for the dinner, and found this place via Google maps. It's about a 20 minute walk from La Vista. Not only was it spacious, and easily able to accommodate our group of 7 people- the staff were incredibly attentive, polite, and friendly. They even have menus in English! Not something you'd really expect in a small, local Izakaya like this.
The food was not only the best food we've had in Japan, the price was so low that it almost felt criminal. The curry and rice was excellent, the black pepper potato/fries were so good we cleaned them out before we left that evening, and the drinks were delicious.
We are now grateful that we missed the dinner at the hotel, because this Izakaya is THAT good. Seriously cannot recommend this place enough, definitely check it out if you're in town.
