Such a rememberable experience. Not only did we have great food and excellent service but their tasting of mushrooms in the different courses were amazing! We are visiting from out of town and last visited 10 years ago and loved coming back to see how they have cultivated over the years. It definitely is a destination restaurant in the Willamette Valley! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
In terms of food, it was hit and miss. the carpaccio was excellent and unconventional, yet the mushroom soup tasted frankly more like a sauce than a soup. As for the rest, the fact that I hardly remember what I ate is a sign that it had no impact on me. Furthermore, the entire menu felt more like a money grab with buzzy upsale ingredients such as caviar, truffles and foie gras. As for the wine list goes, while extensive it was overpriced. In the end, price for value this place was an insult to my palate and my wallet. In terms of service, the staff was rigorous and very attentive but the Maître D was simply from another era...arrogant and stuffy for no reason. He would make a great TV show sitcom character. To top it all off, when came time to pay, I gave the Maître D my credit card, he left and then came back and said loud enough so other customers could ear "do you have another credit card, this one bounced". My response was simply "it is impossible, I most likely just need to enter my pin" (especially for a $500ish bill for 2 persons) and indeed when I entered my PIN all was accepted. It was obvious to me that his jump to conclusion was intentional and mean. In a nutshell, I would never go back there and never recommend this place. Joel Palmer house definitely exceeded high expectations for a last-minute splurge reservation in the middle of a wine tasting weekend. In Covid they did an excellent job of balancing safety, comfort, practicality, and maintained a fine dining experience throughout, even shortly after re-opening. I'm leaving this review almost 2 years later, if that is any indication of how memorable this dinner was. We were treated to a mushroom-focused seasonal menu with excellent service and a wine pairing I would definitely get again. We have been to Joel Palmer House everytime we are in Willamette. It's sort of an annual pilgrimage. This time, they have modified their menu from a la carte to a 5 course prix fixe and a 10 course omakaze style. I picked the 5 course prix fixe for $145/p. We brought our own wine and was charged corkage. The food is amazing and the service is impeccable. As we have a dog we requested to sit outdoors. One time, we sat outside right next to the garden and it was wonderful. This visit, our party of 6 was demoted by a party of 20 and we ended up sitting in the back corner of a big tent. At these prices I can say I am disappointed at where they placed us. Half our guests were looking at white tarp. I had the best seat so it didn't occur to me until the end of dinner. Didnt remember to take photos until desserts. They and the mushroom soup were amazing. Palette cleaner should have been made into a courae it was so good. The ratatouille was the best I have ever had but the sturgeon it came with was very tough. Duck and the beef stroganoff were good but I probably wouldn't have ordered them per the a la carte menu since they are too heavy. Unassuming spot in an old converted house. It is expensive. Very expensive. You pick a base experience and then add to that. But the experience is amazing. Once in a lifetime depending on your budget. The staff were all wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The service was so well choreographed and timed. Our experience was over about 3 1/5 hours, we chose the Omasake experience without tete cuvee. We had 13 courses which are more like bites, although perfect bites to fully taste the food. We did not try the wines though the list is impressive and two staff sommeliers. We stuck to cocktails choosing to trust the bartender to craft drinks to our tastes. You can bring your own wine for a $50 corkage fee. Absolutely worth a try. Come hungry, plan to take your time and savor each bite. It's worth every moment and in the end every penny. It was a little tough to find the entrance, but after that everything was incredible! As it was our first time, Alex did an incredible job explaining our options. Gregory selected the perfect wine to pair w our meal. Everyone who came to our table was friendly, approachable, relaxed, welcoming, and relatable. The sparkling wine we had to begin our meal was exquisite. The dessert board was magnificent - beautiful and delicious. The mushroom course and the oyster were probably my favorite courses. I didn’t love the duck course, but no fault of theirs, I’m just not a fan of duck. Next time I’ll pass on the duck so I can make sure to have room for the cheese course 😋 And I prefer my waygu slightly more done then they presented it. One highlight was meeting Chef Chris and swapping stories of our deployments in Iraq in the early 2000s. We will definitely make this place a regular stop when we’re in wine country. Went for our ANNUAL HOLIDAY DINNER last week. SERVICE was Outstanding! Everything served in a very timely order and with flair and comments on each course. We took up almost the entire building so it was probably louder than usual..NOT their fault at all!! Food was presented well!! Mushroom soup served a bit too much on the “cooler” side then I prefer. It was okay. Each course was tasty. I felt that the “depth” of the seasoning and flavors could have been more pronounced. Almost bland in some of the cases. Overall a WONDERFUL experience!!! Will return, NOT as a group but an individual and give it another try. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+

Top notch restaurant with amazing food and spectacular staff and service. The wine list is incredible with more Oregon wines than than you could ever hope to find. Sommelier did a great job matching a bottle to the food and our tastes. Chef came out to confirm we were enjoying ourselves, which was nice. The food kept coming and the only “negative” was there was more of it than we could eat. Come hungry! Would recommend to anyone wanting a world class meal in a charming and off the beaten path location with history and a story to tell. Will be back next time we are in Dundee.

Outstanding dining experience! Gracious service (in some ways reminiscient of Le Bernadin) and Michelin star worthy food! A fantastic way to end our first visit to Willamette Valley.
What an amazing time - not just the meal, but the entire experience. The service was friendly, they thoroughly explained each and every dish with every course. They had insightful recommendations as well. The historic Joel Palmer House serves as a beautiful locale, and the Christmas decor was festive. And the food.. the food! It was amazing.. the variety of tastes tickled my tastebuds. Each course provided another creative blend of flavors, and they added some pallette-cleansing bites between a couple of the courses. This was truly a treat to experience. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+
