My visit to Jerry's Restaurant was an absolute delight from start to finish! The food was exceptional - from the crispy and flavorful onion rings to the beef roast and delicious fried chicken with sides, every dish was a true culinary delight. The cake as part of the lunch special was the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. Diner experience in Onalaska. Food was delicious and I cleaned my plate. The "Jerry's breakfast" was shared by two of us: 2 eggs, ham, grits, 2 silver dollar size pancake and biscuit and gravy. Yum! Didn't get dessert but the pies looked tasty and their dessert menu was extensive. Cinnamon rolls were featured at checkout but we passed on them as we had no room in the tummies. If you like deep fried everything, southern food. This is for you. Food was fresh and hot. Service great. I recommend. Great local place with friendly staff. Typical southern food. Wow! The catfish dinner was wonderful but what stood out for me was the side of Boudin Balls. They were HUGE and melt in your mouth. Service was like it often is in small town, simply amazing. Went yesterday for supper. Fried shrimp and catfish was delicious. Hot fresh and perfect. Staff was super friendly. I was hungry and forgot to take pics of food. Trust me it was great! The hot Texas weather was putting a strain on their ac. It was pretty warm inside. If you haven't stopped here you should. I felt like I was in my memaws dining room 1980! It's good, not drive out of your way good, but good. Fish and shrimp lacked seasoning but were cooked crispy. Chicken Fried Steak was cooked well but needed seasoning as well. Mashed potatoes were lukewarm at best and packaged pioneer gravy. Dinner roll and broccoli cornbread were both very good. If you are in the area, you might as well stop in. Small "country cafe" in Onalaska, Texas, serving the usual breakfast and lunch fare. Everything was good but for the money, I think it's a bit higher than similar places. The breakdown: (2) cheese omelette $8.50 each + $3.50 each for adding ham. Coffee $2.50 OJ $3.00 (food $24.00) (plus beverages $5.50) (plus sales tax $2.44) (PLUS 3.99% upcharge for using card) (plus $4.00 tip) Total: $37.22 for a simple breakfast for 2. I think I was more bothered by the upcharge for not paying in cash. Our friends invited us to have lunch with them at Jerry’s. They had a great selection and great prices. The service was excellent and the waitress was friendly and helpful. I had the chicken bacon on rye with fries and my husband had the special - roast beef with gravy with a choice of three sides and a dessert. The food was delicious and the amount generous.
