Iconic. Always my first stop to eat when I fly into SeaTac on my way to Tacoma. Last night's visit was the best I've ever had here yet. The cod is so fresh, the chowder always delicious. Service is always friendly. Busy area and parking can be difficult sometimes, that's the only downside. Ivar's is Washington's Culver's, if you don't go you're missing out. The only other location I like more is the one near the Port of Seattle, another must-visit. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Fast food dining. The spicy calamari was mildly spicy, and the pieces seemed a little small, and the portion seemed to be a bit small. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly, tasted wonderful and well portioned. Unfortunately, they were out of sourdough bread, so I could not order the chowder bread bowl. So I ordered the chowder without the bread, and it was as good as ever. The chowder is constantly great after many decades. The atmosphere, however, looks the same after many decades. Ivars in Federal Way is exactly what a fish and chips place should be, which is affordable, really tasty, fast, and no frills. And it is very clean! A bonus is that there are seagulls in the parking lot which makes it that much more authentic. But the fish and chips are very very good and I would stack them up against any of the other fish and chip places in the Puget sound area. This is my go-to place for a really good cod fish and chips. The quality and the portion of the food is very lower than what you pay, see the photo. Photos on the website are completely different. Also, fries were very hard to bite. The chicken was quite good! This is a greasy and heavy meal, however, so be prepared and be hungry, otherwise you’ll feel it as a gut bomb. Classic fast-food style seafood and chicken that’s fairly good quality. I probably won’t be back in a while cause it’s so heavy, but worth trying out if you’re in the right mood. The girlfriend was in the mood for some crab cakes or halibut, she didn't care which one, she just needed one or the other. When she gets one of those hankerings, its best to just find it for her. :) We've been to this Ivar's before and have always liked it. We walked in and the air was on and we definitely appreciated that considering it was around 95 degrees outside. I wish I were better at catching names because I feel I can't give proper shout outs to the ones that deserve it, but our servers were all great yesterday.
