Decent selection of items. Unfortunately, they've recently decided that they can only have 4 self checkout lanes open per employee watching that area, which would be fine if they staffed enough people to have all of their self checkouts open or even staff enough people for normal checkouts. Sadly, they have done neither. There's nothing more frustrating than having to wait in line knowing that there are self checkouts that work, but are simply "turned off". I've seen this happening at various times of day and during both the week and weekends. As if there weren't already plenty of reasons to avoid Hy-Vee (treat staff horribly, a huge payoff in recent years with unacceptable outings given to staff, an ugly CEO -and I'm not talking about his looks), this is the straw that broke the camels back. I basically live next to this Hy-Vee, but I will be avoiding it from now on for wasting my time.

The two brothers that work the drive up are absolutely fantastic. Given the weather this past week, they remained very polite and professional. Give those boys a raise.
So I went into the drive-thru the other night and told them that they forgot my crazy bread on I don't know what's the day before the day before that so no longer than 2 days. I literally had to get into it with a manager over some damn crazy bread because I wouldn't lie about that. So as I'm holding up her line she says her line she throws some crazy bread at me and says don't ever come back wow are you kidding me why would I lie I just moved here from Des Moines and no one treats people like that but I tried to ask for who was above her and she wouldn't give me the information.

I am from Iowa but now live out of state. My 2nd ever job was working at a Hy-Vee through high school and college. My husband and I are always excited to visit any Hy-Vee we can whenever we are back in Iowa. We always find everything we need and more.
Great selection, comes at great mark up. The new Perks program likely comes as a need to get you to agree to a greater release or use of your personal data (why else wouldnt they just utilze their existing program). Alcohol, very expensive. Friends from neighboring states shocked at prices in Iowa (driven by HyVee). They give space to those that pay (higher costs) rather than finding cheaper options. I've worked hard to break my habit of going to hyvee by default. Target for most, Fareway for meat and produce, Target or Casey's for alcohol.
I want to say thank you to the gentleman in aisles online who helped me locate a meal kit I’d been looking for and couldn’t find at my local hyvee I also want to thank a gentleman who was stocking frozen products and stopped what he was doing to help me find some frozen wings after I had been told the incorrect aisle by another employee over the phone. He went over to another aisle then came back with the item and asked how many bags I needed. Thank you
Very dissatisfied with Hyvee at the prairie trail drive location I was employee of that store and recently ended my employment due to favoritism and management been very unprofessional also because I wasn’t given what I was promised meaning I was hired as customer service rep and they were using me to do other things such as picking up the garbage at the parking lot also to work in the departments where I wasn’t trained and never done those things in the past. I am sad that I had to end my employment with them but they didn’t give me the choice also I was advised by Co Manager of that store that I am required to do everything they tell me rather that’s working at the register cleaning restrooms or if they need me in the meet dept to cut meat which I didn’t agree with that and that is why I decided to leave…. Very poor management…
Cons: The last few times bags of potatoes, carrots, and celery especially the bagged salads have had rotten ones in them which make the rest unusable for the most part. Troy in the produce area special ordered Japanese eggplant for me and never called me about it. When I finally asked him after checking with Christopher who stated they were never ordered, Troy said they threw the case away since I never picked them up, while shrugging his shoulders, he dropped the ball on this. I never received a call they were in. Hard to pick up w/o a call. Grabbing a bite to eat there, the tables are always dirty, never wiped off. Pros: The grocery area is always clean, employees are always pleasant and for the most part a good place to go.

The other day I went into hyvee to go shopping. Mari helped me through the produce department and also helped me find what aisles my other groceries were in. I just moved in from out of town so I still don’t know my way around. She was extra patient and extremely sweet with me; she definitely made my day much better with her kindness.
This grocery store has attained a new format in the industry, the customer service is out of this world. Customer service experience is off the charts, there is no competition, the difference has been established with golden letters.
