We ate the buffet and it was authentic Mexican cuisine. Very clean restaurant friendly and attentive staff. Restroom was very clean. Come and enjoy this restaurant. We had a dinner party of 7, with plenty of space made available to us by combining some tables. There was more than enough room to accommodate us even with other larger groups dining that evening. From the front door to our seats, the team at Guadalajara is the utmost friendly and welcoming of any restaurant you'll find. Our dining experience was great. We were served quickly and treated well. Our server was attentive, took great care in our orders, and checked on us throughout without a delay. We had the house margaritas, which are a Monday special...highly recommend for value and quality! Every meal option will be made lovely and will definitely be filling. The renovations and expansion over the last few years have only made the location better, and the decor and atmosphere are wonderful. I've never experienced a poor visit to Guadalajara. You are always like family when you walk in those doors. Most recommended for a dining experience in Ankeny! We chose this restaurant because of the great reviews. It was all true. Great food! The drinks and food portions were huge! Their prices were very reasonable. We both had the ground beef chimichanga dinner. It was delicious and fresh. Their salsa is amazing and the chips look and taste homemade. The best part was the friendly staff. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and it was a pleasure meeting everyone! Love this Mexican joint. Their Diablo Shrimp is out of the world. The reason I give 4 stars for food is the difference in food preparation and variance in quantity that I find when I order different days of the week. Normally when there’s no weekend/holidays/evening hustle and bustle, the food tastes excellent and has the right quantity but during busy hours it changes. But, overall I’d say it’s the best Mexican food restaurant in Des Moines and you will not be disappointed. Their service is commendable, they’re so warm and always keep a check on you throughout. I will definitely keep going to this place again and again. Must try- Diablo Shrimp, Chicken Fried Rice, Pineapple Haritos. It was ok. Not a lot of flavor. Not very spicy. But the ground steak was good. Server was friendly enough. Margarita was also just ok.

Very good food and a clean environment. They brought us chips and salsa, and we ordered a shredded beef chimichanga and the supreme nachos, both delicious! The only critiques I have are that there was no salt or extra napkins on our table. If I am being very picky, I asked to have my dish without sour cream, but they added it anyway. Not that big of a deal. I wish I could give 4.5 stars instead of 4. I definitely recommend this place! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
