First time visiting Gabe's and I must say we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The happy hour bites were excellent. I totally recommend the Boudin, Fried Green Tomatoes, and the Cajun Eggrolls. Also the margaritas were top notch! Alex at the bar was so sweet and pleasant, the entire restaurant team was welcoming. Highly recommend dining here, and I will see you all again very soon! We chose Gabe's Downtown as our catering service for our wedding and it was INCREDIBLE!! Tami took care of every single detail and they made the most amazing food (including bar services) for our special day... guests were still raving about the food almost two weeks later! We would absolutely choose Gabe's again for any catering service or special event. We also went for dinner one night because we were craving the appetizers we chose for our wedding and had an entire meal which was incredible! Thank you, Gabe's Downtown! Today was the first time in a while that I visited Gabe's Downtown. The service and food was still top tier. Connor was our server and he and his peers gave us the right amount of attention. The food looked and tasted great! There was plenty, so we took the extras home. I originally ordered the Chicken Victoria. It was extremely greasy and inedible. I even tried dabbing it between napkins, but it was awful. I returned it & emphasized that I wanted a lighter lunch meal, so I switched to the Salmon Caesar. The manager was not apologetic & somewhat matter of fact, then replaced it was appears to be only lettuce, 1.5 crouton(s), and one VERY small cup of Caesar dressing. I will need binoculars to locate my Parmesan cheese which appears to be grated (like the sprinkles more appropriate for pizza) and minimal at best. I will not return. After a 2 year hiatus due to a couple of my favorite dishes being discontinued we decided to spend a nice night out celebrating my birthday and hopes of finding the items back in the thick of the menu. Thankfully they were. The crab seafood bisque in the bread bowl is everything. Perfect start. And then the fried shrimp platter with cheese grits with balsamic was the perfect side. Then the bread pudding was the cherry on top. Keep these items, along with this level of deliciousness and I’ll be back multiple times over!! Thanks Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Walk with me. We walked in and were seated at a booth where a spaghetti noodle wouldn’t fit behind the desk. Apparently, he likes to sit people at booths so they can find their seats. It happened to others who came in after us. The lighting could be better. Maybe a candle on the table. The waitress was polite, but the young woman who brought the bread was bubbly and very helpful with the menu choices. The restaurant appeared clean. Okay ambiance - not something that screams, don’t leave yet! Let’s talk about the food. The coconut shrimp was an 8/10. Nice and crunchy. The sauce it sits in is pretty tasty: 10/10. The fried calamari was very good. Very good. A squirt of lime would have made it perfect. It was crunchy and well-seasoned. Not overpowering. The GBH, or whatever it’s called, was close to excellent. The salmon was well seasoned. The bed of cauliflower purée went well with the salmon and fluffy brussels sprouts. Go slow on the sprouts because, although delicious, the flavor can be overpowering. It’s a lot of food. I ate half and left the other half. My friend got the catfish. I didn’t taste the catfish, but the zucchini was tasty. Would I go back? Definitely. This was my first visit but not my last. The service was fast - even on a Friday night when they were busy. And the food was absolutely delicious. For appetizers I had the boudin balls (these were the only things I was not impressed with - everything else was amazing), the Cajun egg rolls (sooo good), and my friend had the fried green tomatoes. For dinner I had the fried catfish and grits. I could not eat it all it was such a hefty portion. The flavor was a good Cajun flavor. I ate off of it two more times at home! I can’t wait to go back to try other things on the menu. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner
