We loved the atmosphere of the place. Nice bistro and curious location. I bet this is the best timebeing of the army fort, let's imagine this place as an old military retired and ready to share a lot of glorious stories with its visitors.

Nice fort to visit on your way or to Kinderdijk. Fort Altena was built between 1847 and 1850 and is located along the old Impériale Route ; the Napoleonic highway from Paris to Amsterdam.Historically important stop point.We didn't try the restaurant but visited only the fort. We could not really see the inside as the restaurant was closed but its sill good to visit from outside and see the fort and the surrounding.

A beautiful fort that is partially underground. There is a restaurant here that is open on few days of the week. The property is open to visitors and under surveillance (to prevent damages) if you visit. There is no entry fees. On a wet rainy day, it is a nice place to visit.

Nice place, cool old fortress with some hidden bunkers underneath the surface wich was fully grown with grass and other plants. We only had coffee but from the looks of the menu i think they had some nice things to eat aswell. From the outside old and from the inside stylish fancy new!

It's a nice place, big enough to organize parties and anniversaries with friends & families all together. The employees are very kind and helpful. The food is great and music too! You should try it!

Very nice historical fort with a small museum and possibilities for all sorts of events. The food and drinks are excellent and the staff is very friendly. A number of different rooms are available for small to very large groups. Outside the fort is surrounded by a large nature reserve, which is wonderful for walking.

Awesome place, attended an event here. The staff are absolutely great and really sweet and friendly. They kept our glasses full all night and the food especially the beef stew yummy!

Running around and being able to explore "hidden" areas : lovely! The service however was grumpy, restrictive and plainly rude. If you decide to come to this wonderful fort : stay outside.
