Eric and I loved our sweetheart cutting cake from Cornerstone Confections. I had my heart set on a sweater-textured sweetheart cake for our “Après Ever After” ski-themed wedding in Vail, and most bakers that I spoke with were not willing to attempt this intricate design within our budget. Another baker with a minimum beyond our small two-person cake kindly pointed me towards Felicia and Cornerstone Confections.
Cornerstone Confections was recommended as a wonderful Vail-area baker, and after looking at their website, I sent an inquiry. Felicia was very responsive, accommodating to our budget and dietary challenges (she had an option that was both gluten-free AND dairy-free), and was willing to take on the challenge of our cable-knit vision.
Our wedding day arrived, and our lovely little cake was delivered without a hitch. Felicia even was willing to use our family’s heirloom cake stand! When Eric and I arrived at our reception, we were both thrilled at how it turned out – it was cozy, elegant, and impressively tall for a little sweetheart cake, and we felt badly cutting into it during our cake cutting. At first bite, we were so pleased to discover it was a delicious chocolate cake with rich ganache! We loved that we could both enjoy an indulgent treat that accommodated both our tummies (I’m gluten-free, he’s dairy-free), and we continued to enjoy pieces of cake for breakfast over our first week as newlyweds.
