Chicora Alley is our favorite restaurant in Travelers Rest. We love everything that we have tried. Grouper sandwich, Quesadillas, Grouper and Jerk Shrimp Street Tacos, and then there is the incredible deserts. Chocolate Cynpot and Key Lime Pie are the only two we have tried and they were perfect deserts. They also offer a great children's menu and a huge assortment of drinks on the menu. First time here. We had the coconut shrimp, wings and sweet potato fries. The coconut shrimp were on point but the wings and sweet potato fries were lacking. The wings weren't crisp to be fried. They left a horrible after taste and the ranch was like water. As for the sweet potato fries, they didn't taste like anything. I was kind of upset that I wasted a cheap meal on this. Very disappointing. As for the service, it was great. I just wish the food was better. Great service. Subpar food. I hate leaving reviews like this. I rarely do, but we spent $85, and I've got a bad taste in my mouth after this experience. We're new to the area and tried Chicora 2 weeks ago and fell in love, so we went back, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the service provided by Jess was exceptional, the food quality fell short of expectations. I ordered the jerk shrimp salad, hoping for a flavorful and satisfying dish. However, I was disappointed that the salad was not seasoned (zero jerk seasoning on the shrimp) well, and the shrimp were overcooked, resulting in a rubbery texture. Additionally, the portion size was small. I didn't and couldn't even finish the salad. As for the mile-high nachos, they were a letdown as well. The cheese had congealed, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the dish. It's worth noting that we visited Chicora Alley Restaurant before when it wasn't busy and were very happy with the food. However, this time, the restaurant was packed, which may have contributed to the difference in quality. Overall, while we appreciated the efforts of the staff, particularly Jess's excellent service, we left the restaurant feeling disappointed with the subpar food quality. I hope the restaurant can address these issues to ensure a more consistent dining experience for all patrons, regardless of how busy they are. The shrimp and grits were SO good! I definitely recommend! It was pleasant to have Brandon as our bartender. He was really nice, very energetic, and promptly delivered.
