I have tried many of and love all their freshly-baked bread products. Breads (sourdough, whole wheat, challah and others), baguettes, and bagels. And they sell related products like maple syrup, etc. IMO one secret advantage they have is that they are a sourdough bakery. A co-owner told me during my last visit that not just their sourdough bread, but also their whole wheat, cinnamon swirl, and others are sourdough (no sourdough baguettes yet). FYI, sourdough bread acts as a prebiotic, which means that the fiber in the bread helps feed the “good” bacteria in your intestines. These bacteria are important for maintaining a stable, healthy digestive system. Sourdough is also lower in gluten than other forms of bread. I tried the apricot bear claw. It was made with real apricots, not apricot jam! So fresh and delicious!

The best breads around here, plus a small selection of other locally produced foods.
Consistently the best bread bakery around! I first experienced their bread at the Waltham Farmers Market. The baguettes are moist and chewy on the inside with a crusty crust. The various loaves are dense, moist and chewy.

Best bread and pastries that I’ve had in the U.S. (not exaggerating, only comparison is bread I had in France and Italy).
Bread does not generally excite me. I've never been a bread person. My wife is, but not me. Until I had Durum Levain from Bread Obsession and saw the light. Now I can't imagine living without it. This bread haunts me. I'm actually afraid that someday we might move out of the Boston area and won't be able to get it, so now I'm just hoping the schools around here are decent, for my kids sake. I find myself trying to squeeze in quick trips to Lexington in between meetings. I think Durum Levain has altered the pleasure receptors in my brain. They should lock the formula in the same safe where they keep the original Coke recipe and Amelia Earhardt's shoe. This bread will solve your problems and save your marriage. Do yourself a favor and move to greater Boston so you too can experience the joy of a deep and unwavering Bread Obsession.
My sister and mother have both stopped by here to try it out. So far the breads have been fantastic and the service good. Only problem is you need to get there early if you want a selection to choose from, they sell out quick! Update October 2022: Have gone here quite a few times and tried almost every bread- not one has disappointed. Well definitely continue shopping here.
Best bread I have ever had. Nothing artificial all natural. The bread actual fills you up. I highly recommend this place. The only draw back is it sells so fast you have to arrive as soon as it opens.
