This place was perfect to meet to eat with two small children. Lots of good food choices and even though the kids menu was small our server said they could make other things kids size. They were very accommodating. We even had a major water spill and our server was still extremely understanding and kind. We will definitely be back here again! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Went here on recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed at all. Got seated right away (8:30am on a Sunday) and we were done eating by 9:00am. The food was excellent, especially the cinnamon roll. My husband had the Bluebird Eggs and I had the Thee Pick Three omelette. Everything tasted fresh and was nice and hot! Service was great, our waiter was friendly and attentive. If we come to the area again we will stop back in. 😊 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

It was ok. I’m glad there wasn’t a super long wait - there’s absolutely no waiting area. Our server was fantastic. No wait time on food or drinks. Our food was kind of disappointing, though. The sausage patties were completely pink on the inside. I asked to sub my hash browns, but they came with my food on top of my eggs. The eggs and bacon were perfect. They actually mixed the shredded cheese with the eggs, which is nice. We also saw Caitlin Clark, so that was pretty cool. Food and coffee were really good. They did have gluten-free buns for my chicken sandwich, and the bun was one of the better gluten-free buns I have tried from a breakfast diner style place. Our server was a little inattentive. However, the server next to her was very kind and helped us with refills and a check-up. I also wish they had a larger option for coffee. If you're a person who drinks your coffee fast, you may have to be patient for a moment here and there for a refill I got a grilled chicken sandwich with Fris and my partner got an omelet with sourdough toast and 2 coffees Overall, it was an enjoyable breakfast and would recommend Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Absolutely stunning diner in the heart of Iowa City! Quite literally traveled hundreds of miles to visit on our way from Columbus Ohio to Kinnick Stadium. Dined in for breakfast, a lively and warm atmosphere even just after opening for the day. The food was wonderful and the service was fast even for a busy morning! Kaylee, our waitress, was absolutely wonderful, and even gave us recommendations on how to enjoy the town during our stay! We will definitely be back! Wanted to try this for some time so went after the football game. Unfortunately was disappointed. I ordered a classic burger medium rare w/fries. NO chance this was a 6oz burger & it was cooked well done. As you can see in the pic the bun overwhelmed the burger, I'd say it was ¼#. Friend ordered the biscuits & gravy & said they were very good, but he ordered the eggs over easy & received over hard. 1 person at the table next to us had pancakes that were very dark brown/nearlyblack. This may be one of the best breakfast diners in the country. Cool retro atmosphere. I’ve never had a bad meal, and family from out of town always love coming here. This is elevated breakfast food. Smooth/non-bitter coffee. I got the crab cake eggs Benedict, delicious. We also got the buttermilk pancakes with strawberries and whip cream. Corn Beef Hash is fantastic, and they have have homemade sourdough toast. Blue Bird Diner is a must stop while in Iowa City. Highly recommend. Wow! I'd eat here every day if this dinner was not 900 miles from home. Stopped in for breakfast recently and was impressed by the easy-going atmosphere and great service. As for food, the corned beef hash was perfect, and my daughter ordered an omelet sandwich with their smoked pork, which was also outstanding!!
