We used to live in Portland's Munioy Hill and regularly ate at the Blue Spoon there. We were thrilled to hear that it had reopened in Midcoast Maine. The new location does not disappoint! We had one of the most enjoyable dinners we've had in quite some time- the service was impeccable, the food was absolutely delicious, classic Bistro fare, and the ambiance was incredibly lovely. We will be back soon!!

I’ve visited twice since this off-season gem opened a few weeks ago. Phenomenal for every occasion. On our first visit, we went all-out with a larger group; for the second, we slid up to the bar last-minute for an immensely satisfying burger after a long day when I was too busy to feed myself and nothing else was open in the area. Both phenomenal experiences.
Highlights were the confit duck—finally! someone who can properly prepare duck!—which was balanced and brightened by the accompanying frisee et al; the steak frites, order to whatever temp the kitchen intended, which was on the pinker side of med-rare but uber-tender and rich, with a perfect crust; and I had a few bites of the chicken and I’ll probably order it next time when I’m looking for the ultimate comfort food on a cold night. Without going into detail, the starters are also great—go with a group and literally order them all to share. Prices are generous for the quality, local area, and state of the world in 2023.
White Negroni and the Manhattan riff are executed perfectly and a good mix of interesting, while still accessible and fun. Great wine list, with lots of small producers.
In a slow time of year in a place where I’ve often spent too much to be underwhelmed, this spot is a breath of fresh air.
I had high hopes given owner reputations and early press. Sadly, it underwhelmed. Service was grindingly slow and choppy. Food was OK but expensive in small portions. Won’t be back.
Wonderful dinner... with kids! Lindsay, our server, was amazing. The food was refreshingly normal yet exquisite. Plus we walked in with no reservations on a Friday night. The atmosphere is COZY, yet romantic. My wife was walking on air after this meal.

We had a beautiful time at the Blue Spoon. The staff was professional and kind. The food was so good. You can tell that the chefs love what they do. For someone who doesn't care for cooked carrots, the roasted carrots were out of this world. What a great dining experience in such a cozy environment.

My wife and I had the most wonderful experience at The Blue Spoon on Saturday evening. We arrived for 8pm and while our table wasn't ready due to previous guests having an extended stay, we were offered a seat at their precious little bar. Lindsay was our server and she was fabulous. She was gracious, knowledgeable, engaging, warm and attentive. Five courses later, a few glasses of wine gone and the restaurant fading into the night we left with one the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. Thank you Blue Spoon!

We visited Blue Spoon on NYE and the restaurant was busy yet cozy and intimate- exactly what we were looking for! The food was amazing! Ricotta beignets were incredible and so was the pork belly! We also loved their espresso martini! We had pleasant service although the waiters seemed a bit like they’ve had enough for the day - given they were open till midnight- is totally understandable! I would absolutely recommend!

Ordered med burger which was practically raw. Had to nuke it at home. Nothing to rave about. They threw some lettuce in the box - I guess that came with it. Good lettuce but that was it, definitely not a salad. Olive garden does a better salad dressing. Paid $10 for what turned out to be 3 oz pudding with way too much course salt sprinkled on top. Pretty miserable all around. Will not be be going back.

We have traveled to many states and are always happy to find a small restaurant with good food to support. We looked at the reviews and pictures and were excited to dine at the Blue Spoon. We were very disappointed. The menu is limited without any hearty dishes, except for a burger and mussels. The light fare was fresh, but over salted. The drinks were okay, but were light on the spirits.
The location, atmosphere and staff were great. It’s a great location and sweet little restaurant. Maybe we visited on an off day.
