Our local supper club was there for dinner and we had a fantastic experience. I called in the afternoon to let them know our large group would be in that evening, and the owner made sure the service staff was ready for us. The service was great, the food was fresh and delicious. We had a great evening at Bertolone's. Not sure what I expected but Bertolone’s felt like a mix between fast food and a restaurant. There were white table clothes, cocktails and table service but that’s about where it ended. The complimentary bread was good but did not have a crunch and was almost too soft. The salad was good, but I like a simple salad with a runny Ranch dressing. My husband enjoyed his Keto lasagna dish, but what’s not to love when you have a lot of cheese. I ordered chicken with a white Gorgonzola sauce. I love a good sauce and a lot of it, but this was too much as the sauce was thick and not very flavorful. I ordered two pieces (generous portions BTW) of cake to go. Their popular strawberry cake was a bit dry and the peach cake had very little peach flavor. Sad to say, most of the cake was not eaten. Service was good but nothing remarkable. Food was fabulous. I had Nonnas Bianca lasagna, hubs had chicken parmigiana. Bread was soft. Could’ve used a better shake on the oil, as you can see in the photo. Stopped for lunch and am so glad we did!!! Ordered the eggplant parm and porky pig calzone. The eggplant parm was perfectly cooked thick slices of eggplant with soooo much flavor! The pomodoro sauce was excellent. I was offered a tomato basil soup, which I never received. But I had plenty of food, so no worries. Hubby had the calzone and enjoyed it - the crust was crispy but also chewy, exactly how you want it. Cheese was stringy without being loose. Wish we lived locally as we would be back sooner!! Update 09-30-23: We visited again today and actually tried something new. (we love the keto lasagna but wanted to branch out) I'm a Marine and our waiter, Michael L. noticed my shirt and informed me that he is a Marine as well. We shot the breeze a bit and reminiced about our time served in the Marine Corps. He then recommended the classic lasagna and the Nonna's lasagna Bianca. My wife and I went with each of his recommendations. We like to get different dishes so we can both try two new choices in one sitting. The classic lasagna was really good, but I didn't notice anything "better" than getting the keto lasagna that we already love, with the added benefit of less carbs. The Nonna's lasagna Bianca however, was absolutely amazing! I dare say, it was probably the best version of lasagna we've both ever had. It's definitely not your normal tomato based lasagna. It's a white sauce (similar to Alfredo, but way better), with sausage, turnip greens, and mozzarella cheese. 🤌 Absolutely delicious! It's gonna be hard to branch out from this one in the future. After our main dishes, Michael asked us to go look at the cooler for what desert we'd like. He said to just grab what we wanted and bring it back to our table. I got the Italian Creme and my wife got the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake. Both choices were delicious. I liked my wife's cake a little bit (not a fan of the chocolate "coating" of it), but my wife loved it. I however, absolutely loved the Italian Creme. I ate less than half of my piece and literally about popped. My stomach still hurts because I ate so much 🥴. Overall, another FANTASTIC experience. We'll absolutely return when we're back over this way. Kudos to the entire team, from the front end to the kitchen. Original review: We've tried Joe's Italian and it was amazing. We just discovered this location, owned by the same family. My wife started with the tomato basil soup and I got the salad, both were great. We both got the Keto lasagna and it was absolutely delicious. They use eggplant to replace the lasagna noodles and it was just right. I don't frequent many Italian restaurants because I'm trying to avoid carbs, but I didn't miss a beat with this dish. I splurged and ate 4 or 5 pieces of their bread with oil. It was worth every single carb 😂 We also split a piece of strawberry cheesecake that was awesome as well. We'll be adding this to our places to revisit when in the area. Kudos to the staff. Stumbled upon this gem, tucked away behind Cracker Barrell. The staff was friendly and courteous. Served bread and olive oil while we reviewed the menu. I opted for a traditional Angel hair pasta, Italian sausage marinara plate. The wife opted for the Eggplant Lasagna. We would recommend both dishes. Take a minute and look over the desert selections. I was very impressed with this restaurant. The lasagne had a very good taste and homemade lasagna noodles. The fried cheese ravioli were also made with fresh homemade pasta. Mabry was very helpful and always smiled.. Mabry had great customer service. The only issue we had here was trying to pay for our food. The girl that tried to check us out kept getting upset bc the waitress was still in the ticket she said. She kept huffing and puffing and leaning on the register all though it said not to lean on it. After about 10-15 minutes of standing in the front we finally got to pay our check. I would highly recommend trying this place.
