Great to find a Bulgarian restaurant as I was craving some food Shopska Salad. It was relatively empty on Saturday afternoon, so lots of available seating. Everything was delicious and hit the spot. Food as always is great. Probably one of our favorite balkan menus out here. However,the service needs improvement. We have been coming here frequently and unfortunately I dont see improvement. Hopefully that will change Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4

The food here is so absolutely fresh and delicious. We are definitely not European but we have been coming here at least every 6 weeks since we discovered this place several years ago. Everything is homemade and super super tasty!!! The pizzas are great and the grilled meats are seasoned perfectly. Absolutely love it!! A hidden gem! And we met our waitress Vanya today for the first time. Just a super fun lady and nice person. Enjoyed chatting with her...she's great!! If you're in Des Plaines absolutely do not overlook Balkanika! Had the butchers meatballs and it was amazing the meat was spiced kinda like a sausage which was delicious (I normally dont do sausage so it really surprised me), the atmosphere was so laid back on the patio. And the bar tender was wonderful. This restaurant was recommended to me by a Bulgarian friend of mine and i have to say he was right. Highly recommend 10/10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

One of a kind delicious food. They serve fresh ingredients with great portion sizes. They had a wonderful selection of fresh sides and salads. If anything get their dried meat in the deli section!
