So good! My faves are the deluxe poke, chili chicken, garlic butter shrimp, and the bbq plates. I'm always here during a lunch or dinner rush (just my luck), but service has been friendly and the food never takes too long to come out. Great prices, big portions, and excellent food. We very recently returned from our first trip to Hawaii where, among the many great experiences, we found a lot of wonderful food. On a whim I Googled "loco moco near me" and Aloha Cookin' was the first result. It turns out to be a relatively small place with kind of a small restaurant/diner vibe. Of course I had the Loco Moco and my wife had the Huli Huli chicken. Both were excellent and the sides of cucumber salad and macaroni salad were completely on target as well. Service was prompt and friendly, portions were sizable and the price was reasonable. The menu contains many other items we are anxious to try, beginning with some intriguing sounding pokes., the soul negative was a lack of many clear vegetarian choices. Whether you have experienced and miss great Hawaiian food or would like to try it out for the first time, you should give this place a try. We will certainly be going back and working our way through the menu! We have visited this restaurant a few times since it's opening, and every dish we have had is fantastic! Spam musubi, chicken katsu, Hawaiian Mac salad, there are no bad choices here. Quiet and cozy atmosphere, the servers are always warm and welcoming. One of the best hidden gems on Campus/Lansing area. I really wanted to try this place. It was quiet on a Saturday and playing Hawaiian music. But our server could not confirm that my food had been friend with shellfish or not. We let her know about my allergy before being served, but she still brought it out anyway. After double checking, she confessed she didn’t know if it had been fried using the same oil or not. If I had not double checked, I could have suffered from an allergic reaction!

Vegan option clearly marked on menu. I ordered the Vegan Poke Bowl. It was delicious. Be sure to ask which sauces are vegan-friendly if you want to order vegan. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I called ahead of time for a pick-up, and they had my food ready minutes earlier than I expected! When I walked in, they had a great decor, which had a Hawaiian electric look that looked welcoming. The staff was very friendly. I have ordered takeout from this place before and knew I was in for a treat. In the past, I had the BBQ Beef, and the sauce was delicious and not overpowering. The Short Ribs had the same marinade, so I figured I would give it a shot. I must say this was one of my favorite meals in all of Lansing. The Short Ribs used were very similar to the LA Kalbi. It had a good amount of marbling, tender, and perfectly caramelized with the sweet-savory sauce. I'm not sure what the difference between Hawaiian and Korean Short Ribs is, but one thing I do know is that -they grilled these bad boys to perfection 🥰 Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Aloha Cooking primarily serves Hawaiian cuisine and is located in downtown East Lansing, beside BAPS. I went in for a poke bowl and they offered tuna, tuna and salmon, or veggie poke bowl, which came with a miso soup and a choice of sauce. Atmosphere and Decor: The restaurant looks neat and clean, with a warm and quiet atmosphere. The seating is the classic booth, which seats four. The restroom is relatively clean and spacious. Service: The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food came out quite quickly, and they were able to leave out certain items from a particular dish if you have any allergies. Food and Flavors: The poke tuna bowl was delicious, with very tender tuna and a great mix of flavors with the veggies and rice. The roasted sesame sauce was a great choice for this bowl. The poke bowl with miso soup is a big meal for one. The restaurant does not serve any alcoholic drinks. Price: The price is on the higher side for an entrée, but considering the quality and quantity of food, it was a great experience. Conclusion: The restaurant's location is great, and the staff is friendly. The food was delicious, and we had a great time. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20
Amazing experience!! All the way down to the staff, we found excellence. We will for sure be back!! We started with the fried spam musubi and steamed manapua (pork buns). They were both super delish! The Musubi was like a deep fried sushi with spam. My husband had the loco moco with miso soup and the best kimchi I’ve ever had. I had the Kalua pig with Portuguese bean soup and lemon ginger salad. We finished with the mini malasadas (coconut doughnuts). Incredible!! We can’t wait to come back and try more off their menu!!
Super unique spot with traditional big island cuisine. The food felt fresh and the atmosphere gave off some great tropical vibes. We ordered a decent selection from the menu to get a good feel for different things and didn’t regret anything! They have very reasonable prices Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20
