Merida Unveils Irs Culinary Secrets

If you can’t decide on a destination in Mexico, look no further than Merida.

Merida, the beautiful capital of Yucatán state of Mexico, is a cultural and culinary hub of the state. Its cuisine mesmerizes foodies from all over the globe with its unique fusion of Caribbean, Spanish and ancient Mayan culinary heritage.

As we start our culinary tour around Merida, we absolutely recommend that you try the unique local specialty called cochinita pibil. It features marinated pork infused with citrus juices and wrapped in banana leaves. Be sure to pair cochinita pibil with freshly baked tortillas and a spicy salsa.

If you can’t go without soups, taste the local iconic as sopa de lima. This rich chicken broth is infused with lime and served with tortilla strips. And, for the main course, savor grilled pork marinated in sour orange juice, called poc chuc. Absolutely worth trying!

Street food enthusiasts should definitely try papadzules. We adore these  tortillas filled with eggs and served with a pumpkin seed sauce and crumbled cheese. And don’t miss out on trying marquesitas. These rolled crepes come filled with Nutella, cheese, or caramel. They taste divine and do well with freshly brewed coffee.

On a hot summer day, remember to cool off with agua de Jamaica and the nutrient agua de chaya.

Merinda will give you an unforgettable dining experience as a souvenir from Mexico.
