When we booked to have lunch here, we honestly weren’t expecting to be transported back to the 1950’s. The environment was cozy and romantic perfect for a date or lunch with family. The food was exceptional, we got the 2 course meal and let me tell you, one of the most tender meats we’ve ever had. When they said that the meat was braised and cooked for at least 3 hours, they weren’t kidding, it’s so tender you dont even need a knife to cut through it! The hornish hen was delicious and moist and the butternut squash soup, Wow! Service was great, the waiter came by frequently and always made sure our water glasses are full. The staff is very knowledgeable and kind. I had to take my daughter to get her changed and my food came while I was gone, they got a stainless steel cover to make sure my food wasn’t cold by the tie I got back! Highly highly recommend! Cannot say enough good things about Bar George. The atmosphere is funky but classy, the service is prompt and warm, and the food is scrumptious. My husband and I came here for an early Valentine’s Day dinner when we stayed at Le Mount Stephen hotel. The wallpaper is fun and there are dozens of artwork strewn about the wall that makes the environment interesting. We had lovely servers. I had asked what wine might go well with my meal, and the server listed a few and then when I gave my preferences, he let me try two to see which I liked best. Keep in mind, this was just for a glass of wine not even a bottle! It made me feel cared for. We got the mushroom soup, the beet salad, the beef Wellington, and the truffle gnocchi. There was not a bad bite. The flavors went deep and were well balanced. I could’ve melted into the gnocchi, it was that good. Highly recommend!
